Improved Whiskey Cocktail

Rye and bourbon are polished with maraschino, absinthe, syrup and bitters. Richer than an Old Fashioned, the drink moves from grain and cherry stone to anise and spice.

Ingredients

• Rye whiskey — 30 ml
• Bourbon — 30 ml
• Maraschino liqueur — 5 ml
• Absinthe — 3 ml
• Simple syrup — 8 ml
• Angostura bitters — 1 dash
• Lemon peel — 1 piece

Preparation

1. Add all liquid ingredients to a mixing glass with ice.
2. Stir until chilled and diluted.
3. Strain over a large ice cube in an old-fashioned glass.
4. Express and place a lemon twist.
